“Amazon Web Services generates the majority of Amazon.com's revenue, making cloud computing Amazon.com's largest business by sales.”

Amazon’s financial disclosures directly contradict both parts of the statement. AWS contributes roughly 18% of consolidated net sales, far below a majority, and Amazon’s North American operations and online-store sales are substantially larger. AWS is highly profitable and growing rapidly, but neither fact makes it Amazon’s largest business by sales.

“Amazon Web Services (AWS) acknowledged that an AWS customer was mistakenly shown an estimated bill of $1,500,000,000,000 due to a problem with AWS’s estimated billing system.”

AWS did acknowledge a fault in its estimated billing system that showed customers wildly inflated charges. Multiple credible reports say some customers saw estimates as high as $1.5 trillion, but AWS’s own public statements appear to confirm the glitch in general terms, not that exact figure for a specific customer. The core claim is supported, with attribution caveats.
