“The United States Senate has approved a resolution halting United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Reliable reporting and official Senate records show the Senate did approve an Iran war powers resolution. But the wording overstates what that approval accomplished: the measure called for ending or limiting hostilities, yet it did not by itself guarantee an immediate, legally binding halt to U.S. military action. The core event is accurate; the effect is somewhat overstated.

“Donald Trump said he postponed a planned U.S. military attack on Iran at the request of Gulf allies.”

Multiple independent news outlets consistently reported that Trump publicly said he postponed or called off a planned U.S. strike on Iran after requests from Gulf allies. The evidence firmly supports the statement as a matter of record. Separate questions about whether the strike was truly imminent or whether allies were the decisive reason do not change that narrower fact.

“The administration of former United States President Barack Obama gave the Islamic Republic of Iran 150 billion United States dollars in cash as part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (Iran nuclear deal).”

The evidence does not support a $150 billion U.S. cash payment to Iran under the nuclear deal. The JCPOA mainly lifted sanctions and unfroze some of Iran’s own overseas assets, which is not the same as the Obama administration giving Iran cash. The frequently cited $150 billion figure was a high-end estimate of frozen assets, while officials said only a smaller portion was actually accessible; a separate $1.7 billion cash settlement was unrelated to the JCPOA.
