“Musa Rahhal, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Transport and Communications, said that the Palestinian Authority opposed the Ramon Airport plan and described it as part of an apartheid policy and as pressure on Palestinians for Israeli economic benefit.”

The claim is well supported by multiple reports quoting Musa Rahhal as opposing the Ramon Airport plan and portraying it as part of an apartheid policy that benefits Israel economically at Palestinians’ expense. The main caveats are minor variations in name transliteration, ministry labeling, and exact wording of the “pressure” point. Those do not materially alter the substance.

“Israel proposed a pilot program to allow Palestinians from the West Bank to fly abroad via Ramon Airport near Eilat on charter flights to Turkey, instead of traveling via the Allenby Bridge crossing to Jordan and flying from Amman.”

Contemporaneous reporting shows Israeli authorities did announce a pilot program for West Bank Palestinians to fly abroad from Ramon Airport on charter flights to Turkey instead of traveling through Jordan and Amman. The claim is carefully worded as a proposal, which matches the evidence. Later delays and route changes affected implementation, not the fact that the plan was proposed.
