“Most Catholics in Albania became Catholic because of the rule of the Kingdom of Italy.”

Albania’s Catholic population was established long before Italian occupation. Historical evidence traces Albanian Catholic communities back many centuries, especially in the north, while the Catholic population share remained near 10% before and during Italy’s 1939–1943 rule. Italian authorities supported missions and church institutions, but there is no evidence that most Albanian Catholics converted because of that rule.

“Most Muslims in Albania became Muslim as a result of Ottoman rule.”

Albania’s Muslim majority emerged principally through conversions during centuries of Ottoman rule. Academic histories describe a gradual process, especially from the 16th through 18th centuries, shaped by Ottoman taxation, state institutions, career incentives, and local religious conditions. The wording should not be read as claiming universal or predominantly forced conversion.

“Albania was a colony of the Ottoman Empire.”

Albanian lands were conquered and governed by the Ottoman Empire for centuries, but they were incorporated into its provincial system rather than formally administered as a separate colony. Calling Albania a “colony” is defensible only under a broad, contested conception of colonial domination. The historically standard description is that Albanian territories remained under Ottoman rule until independence in 1912.

“The average height of Albanian female singers is 186 centimeters.”

No credible evidence supports an average height of 186 centimeters for Albanian female singers. The only cited singer-specific heights average about 175.7 centimeters, while reliable studies place Albanian women overall around 162–167 centimeters. Although neither dataset establishes the true singer subgroup average, the claim’s precise figure lacks any representative sample or documented calculation.

“Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty states that an armed attack against one NATO member is considered an attack against all NATO members.”

The claim matches the treaty text. Article 5 says an armed attack against one or more NATO parties shall be considered an attack against them all, and authoritative NATO and legal sources consistently confirm that reading. The main caveat is that Article 5 has geographic and treaty-defined scope limits, but those do not alter the core statement.

“NATO was created to provide a security umbrella for Western Europe backed by North American military power.”

The evidence strongly supports the claim’s core point. NATO was founded in 1949 as a collective-defense alliance that tied Western Europe’s security to U.S. and Canadian military power, especially against the Soviet threat. While the alliance also had broader political aims, those do not negate this central founding purpose.

“The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was created to provide collective defense for its members, deter Soviet expansion during the Cold War, and protect Western Europe with a security guarantee backed by North American military power.”

The historical record strongly supports this description of why NATO was created. Its founding treaty established collective defense, and authoritative histories consistently place its creation in the context of deterring Soviet pressure and securing Western Europe through a transatlantic guarantee backed by U.S. and Canadian power. The claim is accurate, though not exhaustive of every founding aim.

“At a NATO leaders’ summit in The Hague, Netherlands, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney turned his back on U.S. President Donald Trump and walked away while Trump was speaking, and the incident was captured on camera.”

The alleged walk-away incident is not supported by credible reporting or available summit footage. Major outlets covering the NATO summit in The Hague and videos from the event do not show or describe Carney turning his back on Trump and leaving while Trump was speaking. Several cited social posts and clips are either unrelated, low-reliability, or from different settings, so they do not substantiate the claim.

“Cyprus is a full member of NATO.”

Cyprus is not a NATO member. NATO's own official membership roster lists 32 allies, and Cyprus is not among them. Cyprus is an EU member state but has never joined NATO, largely due to Turkey's veto power as a founding NATO member that militarily occupies northern Cyprus. As of early 2026, Cyprus is actively exploring NATO membership but has not applied or been admitted. The claim is unambiguously false.
